Bag Peaks and Enjoy Pristine Alpine Lakes

This trek takes you across Bulgaria’s alpine mountains – Rila and Pirin, the highest mountains on the Balkan peninsula. Along the way we visit Rila monastery, Bulgaria's most important cultural, historical and architectural monument, and we finish with a glass of wine in tiny and beautiful city of Melnik, architectural reserve and a historic old wine-making centre.

Itinerary

1. Arrival in Sofia, transfer to Panichishte mountain resort.
2. Hiking at the Seven Lakes Area in the Rila Mountains.
3. Crossing the Rila mountain range and descending to the Rila Monastery.
4. Relax at the mineral spa resort of Banya. Try traditional Bulgarian meals.
5. Pirin mountain, one of the last wild mountains in Europe.
6. Trekking above tree line; glacial lakes; ragged peaks.
7. The Rozhen monastery; sandstone pyramids; wine tasting in Bulgaria’s smallest city – Melnik (450 citizens).
8. Transfer to Sofia; sightseeing city tour(flight schedule permitting)
