Bag Peaks and Enjoy Pristine Alpine Lakes
This trek takes you across Bulgaria’s alpine mountains – Rila and Pirin, the highest mountains on the Balkan peninsula. Along the way we visit Rila monastery, Bulgaria's most important cultural, historical and architectural monument, and we finish with a glass of wine in tiny and beautiful city of Melnik, architectural reserve and a historic old wine-making centre.
Itinerary
- Arrival in Sofia, transfer to Panichishte mountain resort.
- Hiking at the Seven Lakes Area in the Rila Mountains.
- Crossing the Rila mountain range and descending to the Rila Monastery.
- Relax at the mineral spa resort of Banya. Try traditional Bulgarian meals.
- Pirin mountain, one of the last wild mountains in Europe.
- Trekking above tree line; glacial lakes; ragged peaks.
- The Rozhen monastery; sandstone pyramids; wine tasting in Bulgaria’s smallest city – Melnik (450 citizens).
- Transfer to Sofia; sightseeing city tour(flight schedule permitting)
