The open book market

A typical Sofian highlight. Within the first years after communist regime had fallen, this was the place where everyone bought books and during these years book stores practically did not exist…

6Europe and the Orient within less than 500 m. distance

you will see how in Sofia two worlds exist side by side. City with old central European architecture and life style is shoulder to shoulder with an oriental bazaar and a neighbourhood, where in every other shop hookahs are sold, and on some of the streets Bulgarian language could be rarely heard. And all of these – in the very heart of city’s centre!

The “spirit of communism” – it is still here.

You’ll see the remnants – such as the monument of the soviet Army – imposing structure in central Sofia… or the soviet style suburbs. You’ll see the largest and most visually startling one – Liulin. But don’t worry- it will take only a 10 minute safe trip with the “bonsai” Sofia metro –not within the rush hours.

7

The street chess games in front of people’s theater.

Even the former FIDE world champion Veselin Topalov has been defeated by some of these masters of quick chess game.

5

Vitoshka street – the main shopping street, but most of all-the “show off” street.

Because Bulgarians as all southern Europeans, just love to stroll, show off and watch the other people. You will see beautiful sights…who are walking around!

At the end of this journey you will devour in one of the best “specialties” in Sofia – its food.

Our guide will take you to a typical modern Sofian restaurant –with lively atmosphere and food, which is delicious and stunningly inexpensive at the same time.
